USA vs Panama REVIEW

PANAMA 2
USA 1

Horrible first half by the Americans lead to a disappointing and deflating loss to a lesser opponent in the Panamanians. The second half as always showed promise for the USA, but such an abysmal first half was too much to overcome. The USA needs to get a finishing mentality when they are on the ball. When they HAVE to score they seem to play well, but it just doesn't seem to happen until we are in a hole and have to claw back. The luck of coming from behind like the Americans are notorious for had finally run out tonight as they get handed the first loss in the group stage of the Gold Cup in their history. If the US can just start a game like they do finish one, they will easily make it through this group stage. Credit to Panama, They played well and by all means deserved the victory. We have to bring our A game against Guadeloupe, or we could actually miss out on the Quarterfinals which would be the first time ever...

Breakdown by Position

GK-Botched the save on the first goal, but he is so good and plays so well every game, you can't call him out.

D- Not a good game for these players either. Struggled with the forwards of Panama. Goodson with a good unmarked goal, but other than that this group did not look good at all.

M-Dempsey had a heck of a game and its a shame because Jones didn't show up to this game just like the forwards. Donovan disappeared until late. Other than Dempsey, it was a sub par performance all around for the midfield.

F- Did they play?? There were few moments in my opinion that you could tell we even had forwards in the game. When Dempsey moved up, we had life, but the regulars in Agudelo and Altidore did not play well at all. They have too do better in the future.

More information to come later as it comes in.

  1. US was horrible, but they did underestimate Panama. Time to refresh the team, starting with the Coach, following Donovan and most of the players now past 30...
